Blue Submarine No. 6

Rating:

Blue Submarine No. 6 is nothing short of amazing. The creators have taken many classic themes, surroundings, and settings, and twisted it into something completely original. The movie has 2 main characters. The first one that we are introdiced to is 18 year old Kino (left). A tough and smart heroine who is determined to do what she thinks is right. The second, who we are introduced to shortly after Kino, is tough-guy Hiyami (right), our hero. He comes off as a bit of a slacker and is given his own reasons for fighting aboard the Blue Sub. Their mission is to stop Zorndike. A man who wiped out all of the worlds major cities under a huge wave of ocean that never receded, then created creatures who could survive in a world of "endless blue." His next move: finish off the rest of the world the way that he did it's major cities and leave it as a world completely covered by 100% salt water. So through a twist of fate our hero and heroine have found themselves together; fighting on the same side, with the same goal, but for different reasons.

The animation in this movie is really good. It has high quality design on the weapons, and pretty much anything else mechanical. Blue Sub is one of my favorite anime movies. The voices in the english version aren't the best, but not ear piercing. Hiyami's has actually been chosen quite well. And even though you might think that you know what is going on, the ending is a complete suprise. If you haven't seen it, you should.
