Kiki's Delivery Service

Rating:

This is a very sweet movie. The main character is Kiki, a young girl who leaves home at the beginning of the movie to start her one year of witches training. Once she finds her dream city by the ocean Kiki begins making new friends. Among them are Osono, who runs a bakery with her husband and is nine months pregenant. Osono lets Kiki live in her Upstairs room and is sorta like Kiki's new maternal figure. Tombo, the boy who wants to fly. And Ursula, the painter who lives in a cabin in the woods. Once living on her own, Kiki runs into many problems. But her sunny nature is a true asset and helps her with many of them. And, what's this? Kiki's lost her witches powers?

This is another one of those movies made for children. I know, you're all groaning. But this one is really very good. I liked it alot. This isn't one of those save-the-world-from-evil ones. It's really a very sweet and simple movie that many can't help but love. I guess that you could say that it's charming. The animation is very well done. Think My Neighbor Totoro. The coloring is bright enough to be realistic, but not blinding. And the American voices are great, probably the best that I've heard next to Princess Mononoke
