Darkside Blues

Rating:

"As long as the world is under the influence of a correct social order it will never fall to devestation. However, when the social order requires a lack of logic and mindless minions to survive, the devestation appears as a world of it's own."

Darkside Blues takes it's name from the movies general location, Shinjuku; the darkside of Tokyo. In this Sci-Fi movie 90% of the Earth's dry land is the property of a family-owned company; The Persona Century Company. Who also happen to be the "bad guys." To this company, other people are considered mindless bugs whose only place is doing what the company wants of them. The only people that seem to stand in the way of persona are small groups of terrorists, juvenile delinquents, etc. Most of which live on the 10% of land that Persona doesn't own. Thus we are introduced to the main characters. Mai is the leader of a group of juvenile delinquents that go by the title of "The Messiah." She has quick reflexes and can move faster that any other person you'll ever meet. Kenzo is a muscley guy that's actually alot smarter than he looks. He also has a crush on Mai and is what you might call her right-hand-man. Selia is a friend of Mai's who is a former nurse with a troubled past. Tatsuya is from a group of terrorists that invaded Persona Headquarters. He's also the only one that got out alive. Darkside is from an alternate deminsion and has bizzare powers. The movie itself is pretty good, but extremely hard to understand. You can watch it over and over again and still not put together all of the pieces. The reason for this is that the movie is continued straight off of a manga without any explanations or clues. Still, if I were you I'd still watch it. This movie has good animation and voices that are very well chosen and fit their roles in the English dub. None of that high pitched sqeakiness that you get out of them alot of the time. But whether you'll understand it or not, it's still most definitly worth watching.
